TheĀ Penn State College of MedicineĀ is thrilled to be offering innovative disability-focused education to their students this winter focused on caring for children and young adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD).
As part of this education, they need people to sign-up as “standardized patients.” The child or young adult with I/DD and 1 caregiver (parent or legal guardian) will both be compensated for their time.
All standardized patients (21 years old or YOUNGER) and their caregiver must participate in the mandatory 1 hour training session (via Zoom, multiple times offered TBD – late November/early December) and at least 1 educational class session.
Your participation will help the Penn State College of Medicine develop and evaluate this curriculum as a model for other US medical schools, and ultimately, help improve healthcare for people with disabilities.
